7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite: St. Patrick's Day Slam (Mar 17)
3. Rugged Men Fight
A charged-up pre-match promo from Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley brought the banter without sacrificing weight, before the reunited drinking buddies got the sh*t kicked out of them for most of their fight with The Good Brothers.
Kingston was ambushed on the ramp, putting him at an early disadvantage. Moxley, still busted up from Revolution, came up with his shoulder taped like a gruffer Chris Brookes. This was an easy target for Gallows and Anderson, who wiped him out with a Magic Killer outside the ring before turning the match into an extended torture session on Kingston.
This ruled. King is one of the best sellers in the game and the Brothers were suitably mean and nasty on top, building to the big Mox hot tag. A wounded animal, Moxley was supercharged, but each successful blow inflicted further damage on his broken body. With gritted teeth and pain coursing through every fibre, he endured, survived, fought, and cradled Anderson for the win, with Eddie wiped out on the outside.
Kenny Omega shimmied out with Don Callis, assisting in Kingston's Pillmanization after the bell. The group threatened to do the same to Moxley's throat but were stopped by The Young Bucks, whose intervention gave Jon time to recover, grab the chair, and run the heels off.
A down and dirty fight that felt as punishing as it looked, this was a great bit of business.
