7 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Mar 24)

2. Mack Shines, Again

The X division has long been the defining aspect of Impact Wrestling, and it's due to matches like the one that opened this week's episode. An eight-man Scramble Match to decide the next contender for Ace Austin's X Division Championship - Willie Mack, Jake Crist, Chris Bey, Cousin Jake, Daga, Acey Romero, Rohit Raju, and Trey. What wasn't to love?

What made the match so good was the vastly different performers involved in the match. The sheer power on display from Romero and Jake, the unbelievable athleticism from Bey and Trey (and others, but those two rhymed, hence why they were picked), and let's not forget the striking ability of Crist. That kick combination to Cousin Jake was mesmerising, it's a genuine miracle the Deaner family member wasn't knocked unconscious from the quarter of kicks.

As expected, Willie Mack was on fine form here, and thankfully neither Johnny Swinger nor Glenn Gilbertti were anywhere to be seen. A Six Star Frog Splash to the back of Cousin Jake (he took the brunt of the damage, eh?) broke up his pin attempt, allowing 'Chocolate Thunder' to nab the number one contendership to challenge 'The One True Ace'. With Rich Swann still out on the injured list, this is undoubtedly the best option for Mack right now.

Of everyone currently on the roster, he's perhaps the most likely challenger to end the reign of Ace.
