7 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Oct 13)

2. Smile All The Way

In the build to her Knockouts Championship challenge against Deonna Purrazzo at Bound For Glory, Kylie Rae was tasked with facing Purrazzo's pal Kimber Lee this week, fresh off Kylie's assault of 'The Crown Jewel' last week. There, we saw less of 'Smiley Kylie', and more of an aggressive Kylie, which we eventually got more of here.

Lee dominated a large portion of the match, thanks in part to her attacks on both Rae's back and leg - a powerbomb on the ring apron (The Hardest Part of the Ring™, of course) isn't something often seen in Knockouts matches. Her calculated attack on Rae's leg wasn't forgotten about either, as the number one contender was visibly struggling after nailing her superkick at one stage.

It didn't stop her from cinching in her Smile To The Finish STF,, transitioning into a crossface to earn the submission win over 'The Crown Jewel'. What was interesting here is that Kylie didn't release the hold after the bell, and then also viciously laid into 'The Virtuosa', who tried to blindside her post-match.

As it turns out, Deonna breaking Susie's arm is exactly what was needed to unleash this new side to 'Smiley Kylie'. It shouldn't be her full-time character by any stretch of the imagination, but it's nice to see her have a bit of a serious character change going into the biggest match of her Impact career.
