7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (2 Dec - Results & Review)
2. Adding An Unstable Element
As much as the tension and instability grew between the four wrestlers in the opening segment and throughout the night, the formula was jolted in the closing moments of Raw.
Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Sami Zayn, and Jey Uso started fracturing from the outset of the night, with Rollins and Punk finally coming to blows briefly, and then Sami and Seth’s subsequent argument bubbling over into a heated main event. Jey has always been at odds with Rollins, so that is something that can reignite down the line. And Zayn observed that he didn’t want Punk on their WarGames team, which could cause issues there.
Moments after Rollins defeated Zayn, Drew McIntyre appeared and dropped Zayn with a Claymore, returning to rage and cause mayhem. McIntyre is the straw that stirs the drink in this situation, a remorseless person who has an axe to grind with everyone. His feud with Punk is well-documented. Drew’s heel turn started when Uso made his way over to Raw. Zayn landed on McIntyre’s radar for defending Jey, but siding with Roman at Survivor Series had to escalate it – which is likely true for Jey and Punk as well. And he and Rollins feuded over the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL.
McIntyre could simply be the Scottish Psychopath and target everyone indiscriminately. He could try to draw Rollins over to the dark side, as Seth was spouting a lot of the same gripes with Punk (and even Zayn) that Drew raised nearly a year ago.
Suddenly, there are five wrestlers on Raw who are intertwined as a result of Bloodline shenanigans, but they’re stories are independent of the Bloodline Civil War drama on SmackDown. If booked properly, this could be electric stuff going forward.
