5. Dom-Dom Nearly Steals One

Dominik Mysterio really never stood a chance against Gunther on Monday night, but the fun with the weaselly heel’s matches is seeing how he finds himself nearly lucking into a win.

The match itself served a bigger purpose with Finn Balor’s rivalry with Gunther, but on its own, it was good fun, a house show-style match that gave the fans plenty to enjoy. Gunther started out hoisting Dom onto the apron and patting him on the head, and Mysterio didn’t take the “little bro-ing” too well, taking the fight to the Ring General. It didn’t often go well for him, but he actually stood toe-to-toe with the World Heavyweight Champion for a bit chopping back and forth.

But then Dirty Dom came through as everyone expected. With the referee’s view obstructed, Dom hit a mule kick low blow, followed by a 619 to the family jewels, then a normal 619 and a frog splash for an incredibly hot two-count. That was Mysterio’s last flurry though, as Gunther immediately came back and put Dom down with a powerbomb.

WWE had no business booking a match that realistically made fans think for a second that Dominik might pin Gunther, but be damned if you didn’t flinch on that frog splash. Bravo.
