The world of post-WrestleMania 41 WWE Raw is certainly a strange one. Following a lackluster signature event, the company has turned in efforts that have ranged from pretty good to excellent.

Monday’s program trended toward the middle of that spectrum, with Raw continuing to lay the groundwork for future weeks and months ahead, not just the upcoming Backlash PLE or Saturday Night’s Main Event at the end of May.

Raw featured a really strong promo from Paul Heyman that almost match him into a sympathetic figure. Almost. It also gave some spotlight to Lyra Valkyria as she continues to step out from the shadow of Beck Lynch. It also saw Rusev return to a WWE ring for the first time since February 2020.

However, Raw also saw more perfectly average wrestling, a main event that used cheat codes, and a stat easily disproved.

Overall, Raw continued its streak of positive developments. Backlash itself looks mostly skippable, but the red brand seems to be setting things up for the long haul, establishing a heel stable and a collection of babyfaces to stand against them. That could provide plenty of fodder for the coming months.

Let’s get to it…
