7 Ups & 4 Downs from WWE Raw (5 May - Results & Review)

3. Lyra Continues To Shine

Whether Becky Lynch sprinkled some pixie dust on Lyra Valkyria or not, things have been looking up for the Women’s Intercontinental Champion since The Man returned at WrestleMania 41.

Lynch came out Monday night to pick a fight with the fans for booing her, claiming that all she did was take out the garbage – Bayley – prior to Mania and took her place, and no one cared about the Role Model. After calling Bayley garbage a half-dozen times, Becky compared Lyra to recycling – less offensive but still useless.

That’s when Valkyria made her way to the ring to suggest that Lynch has been recycling the same wrestling moves and “tired old act” for years. Sick burn. Lyra cut into Becky by noting that everyone in the women’s division got better during Lynch’s absence, and that she’s defended the IC title more than The Man has come around to WWE this year.

When Lynch tried to tout her legacy, Valkyria cut her off and recited Becky’s Wikipedia page, only to observe that she is the first Women’s Intercontinental Champion, a distinction that must stick in Lynch’s craw. This triggered Becky to try to attack, but Lyra was ready and overpowered her, planting The Man with a Nightwing.

The past two weeks, Valkyria has looked really good against Becky, and if the match at Backlash delivers, they could very well elevate Lyra to that next level. She just needs to continue to take advantage of these opportunities.
