Asking fans to Google “Jamiroquai” when you’re a 49-year-old wrestler trying to be relevant as a part-timer is not a recipe for success.

Edge’s repeated returns to WWE during the past three years have been met with mixed results. It’s fantastic to see someone who was forced to retire prematurely get the opportunity to do what he loves, even if only periodically as his body and schedule allows.

But his promo style has not evolved with the times, leaving segments like Monday’s opening feeling a bit off. It wasn’t really bad, but it feels dated at times. The Jamiroquai reference at Finn Balor’s expense and suggesting that Dominik Mysterio dropped his pants while in prison both are examples, as he was more into making jokes than seeking revenge for the group bashing his wife’s head in with a steel chair.
