7 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (May 6)

Social distancing concerns aside, Le Sex Gods vs. Matt Hardy and Kenny Omega was awesome.

Feeling like an old Attitude Era brawl or something that would have played out in Memphis decades ago, this was a wild, uncontrollable Street Fight that was already a hoot before it spilt backstage, as the wrestlers walked out dressed for a Bunkhouse Brawl and plundered the tar out of each other. Jericho set the tone by bringing his baseball bat into play. From there, it was all hardcore, with Hardy splashing a prone Guevara through a table before the bout headed into the building's guts during the commercial break - and insanity followed.

Guevara suffered for his art here, taking all manner of big bumps. The most notable of these was Matt and Kenny chasing him down with a goddamn golf cart after Hardy's transition from regular Matt to Damascus inside an ice box. Sammy bounced off the cart, collapsed into a heap, and ate all kinds of dirt throughout, though The Inner Circle ended up having the last laugh.

Jericho survived an Omega moonsault from a scissor lift when his mates intervened. The numerical advantage was too much as Hardy was powerbombed through a table before Kenny took one atop the cart, leading to the Judas Effect and the victory.

Wild, chaotic, and fun, this was an awesome first match for Hardy, and one of the Empty Arena Era's better bouts.
