7 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (May 6)

2. The Beast Is Back

Nyla Rose
AEW

Hell yeah, Nyla Rose.

Dynamite brought a great showing from the returning Women's Champion last night. First was her promo with Tony Schiavone, in which she cut the announcer off after asking who he fought the most dominant person in AEW was. Bold, assertive, and loud, shame came off like somebody who knows they're the sh*t and, most important of all, a believably badass bully.

Rose's squash of 18-year-old Kenzie Paige was equally effective. This was Nyla clobbering and lobbing an overmatched jobber around like she had a chip on her shoulder and a major point to prove, catching the eye with a big Swanton Bomb after which she abandoned the pinfall herself, pulling Paige back up. Two Powerbombs and a match-ending Beast Bomb cemented her dominance.

A real statement-maker of a night from Rose, who remains one of AEW's most well-presented wrestlers.
