7 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Fyter Fest 2021 Night 2

3. Jericho Passes The First Test

The First Labour of Jericho saw the Inner Circle's leader face off with Shawn Spears, who was legally allowed to use a chair.

This played into the match from the first bell. Spears started with the chair in his hands rather than working towards it. It was knocked away from him early on but Spears continually went back to it, understand the weapon was his biggest asset. Ultimately, however, this proved his downfall, as Jericho reversed out of a chair-assisted C4, putting Shawn to sleep with the Judas Effect to pass his first great test.

A neatly worked match, this drove its story in the right direction and benefitted from two smart performances. Jericho didn't need to go through an epic beating for labour number one. This was more about Spears picking away at Jericho's injured arm, as MJF sold on commentary, and it largely accomplished that.
