7 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Homecoming 2021

4. Deaner Dominates

A previously unscheduled match saw Deaner and Willie Mack put on a decent clash. They bounced off each other greatly, mixing their offence together at times to craft a mini-banger out of, really, nothing.

What made this work was the simplistic story. Deaner had lost to Willie and Rich Swann on Thursday's IMPACT episode, although it was Rhino who took the fall. As a result, he was out here to redeem himself, which he did with a victory via Deaner DDT. The nature of the story ensured the quality of the match was at the level it should have been. Deaner constantly attempting his corner dropkick was the only real inconvenience. Eric Young's interference made sense, you see, as 'EY' is now desperate to get his guys back on track.

This was perhaps Deaner's greatest match since joining Violent By Design. He gelled well in a singles scenario with 'Chocolate Thunder', so here's hoping IMPACT allows him to venture out a bit more. The guy can go in the right situation, so he shouldn't be contained to multi-man scraps. There's potential there.
