7 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Homecoming 2021

2. The (Drama) King And Queen Are Crowned

On paper, Rosemary and Crazzy Steve vs. Deonna Purrazzo and Matthew Rehwoldt isn't something you'd expect to work as well as it did, yet, it was positive in almost every aspect. Your writer would have preferred for Rehwoldt to have pinned Steve here, given that Rosemary is a relatively new champion, but that's fine. The match was great.

Deonna and Rosemary had some stellar interactions throughout this one, with the latter hitting a neat release German suplex at one stage. The compression on her neck as she was spiked with a Queen's Gambit was genuinely nasty to watch, with Deonna adding a snap to the manoeuvre so that as much damage is applied as possible. Rehwoldt, meanwhile, looked like he'd been in IMPACT for years during this; he fits the IMPACT mold brilliantly.

The right winners were crowned here, with Gia Miller presenting Deonna and Matthew with their crowns. IMPACT clearly has something bigger planned for Purrazzo in the overall story, while they've began the process of turning the former Aiden English into a star, too. If they achieve just as much with him as they did with Deonna, they'll have another face of the company on their hands.
