7 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Under Siege 2021

4. Who's Elite?

Eddie Edwards and FinJuice vs. Kenny Omega and the Good Brothers followed a similar style to the four-team bout, in that it had a bit of a slow build in the first half to the point it could have been a Down. By the end, though, it became an Up because it was a stellar six-man tag, something that IMPACT have struggled to get right throughout their history.

You need only look at the success of All Elite Wrestling’s multi-man tag bouts to find out why they’ve finally gotten it right, to a certain extent anyway. Neither team held the advantage for too long. Instead, they shared offence from start to finish.

Once the match reached its boiling point, it was delicious. David Finlay was dropping people consistently, Eddie Edwards and Kenny Omega were proving why they’re likely to be the Slammiversary main event, and the Super Elite trio were working like exactly that. A trio. They weren’t like their opponents – a singles guy and a tag team uniting. That’s what elevated this match.

Eddie’s Boston Knee Party to Karl Anderson earned he and FinJuice the victory, and a right one at that. Having Omega always going over in IMPACT would be terrible marketing; instead, he’s currently 2-2. It’s crucial he wasn’t pinned, though. He must be kept strong for that Slammiversary main event spot.
