W. Morrissey is going to be IMPACT World Champion within a year. His decimation of Willie Mack at Under Siege proved this more than it needed to.
The new side to Willie allowed ‘Chocolate Thunder’ to have some fire at the onset of the bout, but a boot to Mack’s head early on changed everything. That boot sent Willie crashing through the ropes, hitting his head on the floor of Skyway Studios. From there, the former Big Cass ensured he left Under Siege looking like a killer.
He picked Willie apart effortlessly. Everything from using the ringside setup to aid his offence, to refusing the referee a chance to check on a potentially injured Mack complimented each other. So long as Mack isn’t actually seriously hurt, this was the greatest way to build Morrissey as IMPACT’s next big thing. Refusing to end the match after hitting the East River Crossing, but rather booting Willie in the back of the head was a blissful culmination.
Morrissey now looks set to tangle with Rich Swann. Not even a month into his IMPACT tenure, and he’s already facing one of the most prolific World Champions in company history. It speaks for itself.
