2. Not A Great Start For Raw Women’s Title

Asuka Nikki Cross

On paper, Asuka challenging Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship should be a hellacious and outstanding match if given time and agency.

The feud in the lead-up to WrestleMania 39? Not so great so far.

Asuka won the women’s Elimination Chamber match Saturday to earn the title match. Monday, she battled Nikki Cross in a nothing match that really just served to give the Empress of Tomorrow a televised win and provided an excuse for Belair to come to ringside to watch, get into the ring afterward and point at the WrestleMania sign. Oh, and Asuka drooled blue mist.

That literally was it. That was the entire build to their Mania match. A milquetoast match, a sign point and blue drool.

Yes, there’s still more than a month to go and plenty of time to build this up, but this wasn’t exactly an encouraging sign.
