7 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw XXX (23 Jan - Review)

Ups…

7. Finally, A Good Use Of Legends

For years, the running gag during these reunion-type shows has been WWE forcing a bunch of legends who have nothing in common into segments, giving us shots of mismatches like Kelly Kelly hanging out and reminiscing with IRS (or some other equivalent pairing).

But JBL bringing Baron Corbin to a poker game being run by the Godfather and Ron Simmons – two guys Bradshaw ran with for years – worked nicely. It was a real, genuine interaction that made sense, old friends interacting… with Godfather and Simmons negging Corbin (always an added bonus).

Even the idea of a poker game was at least a plausible way to get scenarios like Alpha Academy, Diamond Dallas Page, Madusa and Corbin in the same shot. Still awkward and forced, but at least not horrendous.
