7 Ups & 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Nov 20)

4. The Most Insincere Bell-End

Shane McMahon The Miz

This week's Miz TV was solid, with 'The A-Lister' playing an almighty suck-up to boss Shane McMahon, just two nights after acting as his cheerleader during the men's Survivor Series elimination match. It was his influence that ultimately prompted McMahon to take control of the bout towards the end. They were unsuccessful, but it gave the bout a clear story point, and the duo something to work with on this episode of SmackDown.

Miz spent the bulk of this segment kissing Shane's arse. Calling the opportunity to fight alongside him "an honour," he brought McMahon out early. Still selling Survivor Series, McMahon was too beaten up to mess around, but he seemed to enjoy Miz's lavish praise. He was flattered by the proposal to join forces as 'The Best Team In The World,' and this led into their clash with two local goobers.

There wasn't a shred of sincerity in anything Miz said or did here, and that's why it worked. As one of the best assholes in the business, Miz is clearly working some sort of angle, and only sidling up to SmackDown's power player in order to spring some kind of trap. Shane might be the only man in the building who doesn't see it coming.
