7 Ups & 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Nov 20)

5. Charlotte's Braggadocio

Though Charlotte Flair's night was ultimately spoiled by alignment inconsistencies, her opening diatribe was well-delivered and only let down by the follow-up.

'The Queen' was always going to open the show after beating the piss out of Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series. Sporting a big Cheshire Cat grin, she refused to apologise, claiming she enjoyed every moment she spent wailing on the supposed 'Baddest Woman On The Planet,' who "bowed down to 'The Queen'" at the pay-per-view.

This prompted Paige's arrival. The General Manager said that while she enjoyed what happened, Charlotte's decision to attack a bunch of referees left her no choice but to deal out a $100,000 fine. An appropriate punishment, though Charlotte had no chance to retort before The IIconics interrupted to set up the next couple of matches.

Though Flair claiming that she'd fought for rival Becky Lynch was an odd turn, she was at her heelish best for much of this segment. She has always shined in this role, so let's hope WWE stick to it going forward, rather than forcing her towards something nobler again.
