7 Ups & 8 Downs From One Year Of Bray Wyatt’s Fiend In WWE

5. Using The Mandible Claw

Bray Wyatt had been compared to Mick Foley years before he started using the icon's Mandible Claw finish as the 'Fiend', but that submission was long overdue a comeback. The problem was that not just any Tom, Dick or Harry could start using it without old-timers crying foul.

The 'Fiend' was different.

It, and the almost vulnerable red-jumpered Bray, already shared similarities to Foley's Mankind character. By employing the Claw as his new finish, Wyatt could provide a neat nod back in time towards an old favourite and writhe around laughing as the strobes tortured everyone's eyes mid-attack.

This tribute has been infinitely more palatable than Kevin Owens' decision to use Steve Austin's Stunner; whereas KO's rebel spirit last year seemed forced, it's more believable that a nightmare like the 'Fiend' would want to prolong his victim's agony by reprising a classic hold.
