7 Ups & 9 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (April 2)

While WWE's repetitive contract signing format gets tedious, Kofi Kingston and Daniel Bryan's was one of the best of their feud so far, with both men bringing it for a red-hot crowd that was all about the New Day man.

The audience were on fire throughout. With Xavier Woods and Big E playing hype men, they chanted "Kofi! Kofi!" so loudly that the infuriated WWE Champion was forced to raise his voice on several occasions. He ran Kingston and called the fans parasites, saying "they need you to fulfil whatever fantasy they have in their lives," drawing calls of "assssshole!", before telling Kofi to "suck it all in, because for you, this is the best it's ever going to be."

Then came Kingston's fire. He told Bryan to shut up while he educates him, saying that he'd come to realise that the WWE Champion doesn't know a single thing about him. Kofi put his opponent over for becoming World Heavyweight Champion within two years of debuting. He tore him down by saying he's "scared as hell because he knows what comes next." Then, finally, Kingston put his John Hancock on the document with his personal cheerleader, Byron Saxton, putting him over on commentary.

As excellent as we've come to expect from Kofi and Bryan, this was the right choice to end the show. It was also a rare WWE contract signing that didn't end in violence - a supplemental Up itself.
