7 Ups And 1 Down From NXT: The Great American Bash 2

4. Great American Dash

Gargano Swerve

Another match that was somehow booked in an insanely frantic 9-minute stretch last week, a Jonny Gargano who in need a serious win, took on an Isiah Swerve Scott in need of a serious opponent. Would you like to guess what the outcome was?

Much like Dakota Kai's simple-yet-effective booking over the past few weeks, NXT seems to really have a handle on how it's managing the vast majority of its talent. Bigger stars are picking up wins at a regular rate, and 9/10 are beating people who are more elevated by the quality or the stature of the match than they are hurt by the actual loss.

The match itself was two incredibly talented wrestlers going at, at max, about 60%. Not helped by a commercial interruption (during this show with limited commercial interruptions) that felt like it went for half the match, both men were definitely holding back here. Hopefully for another match somewhere down the line.

In the here and now though, this was another match a million miles away from being good enough for a TakeOver or PPV, but was probably slightly above the usual standard for Wednesday Night TV entertainment. Hopefully, more to come from this rivalry, but definitely enough to enjoy here either way.
