7 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE Fastlane 2019

Typically when you see an advertisement for an upcoming wrestling show, it says, “Card subject to change.” That’s an easy way to avoid breaking an ironclad promise for certain matches.

But Fastlane was chock-full of changes. First off, the card itself only came together in the last two weeks, with only a couple matches announced by the time the penultimate Raw aired. Then, Sunday night, a match between Rey Mysterio and Andrade was turned into a fatal four-way for the United States Championship. A WWE Championship match was made a triple threat, and a 2-on-1 handicap match was added to the card.

That’s a lot of stuff to be moved around on an eight-match card as the show is beginning, especially when the card really didn’t come together until a week out. Is that poor booking, or an effort by the writers to keep fans on their toes?

Either way, it’s not a great look when it happens multiple times.
