If youre looking for proof that someone in WWE knows how to book compelling matches, just watch NXT regularly. The developmental territory has shown on multiple occasions that it can deliver matches that suck fans right in, not just in terms of wrestling quality, but in the story thats told during it.

A nice example of that came Wednesday night when NXT Womens Champion Asuka defended her title against the much larger and more powerful Nia Jax. Jax used her size to her advantage and threw Asuka around, forcing her to change her game plan. However, Jax kept countering her: Asuka tried both a guillotine and a triangle choke, but Nia powered out of both.

In the end, Asuka used a series of strikes, kicks and knees to chop Jax down to size and finally topple her. The match overall was good, though its clear Nia is still honing her craft. Still, the match told a good story that made Jax look tough and Asuka tenacious and persistent.
