7 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Oct 12)

1. Lazy Booking Dampens Tag Division

Having a number of teams state genuine cases as to why they deserve a shot at a pair of tag titles is by no means a terrible thing. Quite the opposite, in fact. If there just so happens to be multiple units with credible claims to being number one contender, then this multitude of challengers can help make a division come across as legitimately competitive.

Unfortunately, in the case of NXT's Women's Tag Team division, instead of building a number of teams into a position of strength and worthiness, two units have just been hot-shotted towards the gold out of nowhere. As I'll note again before this article is over, to expect logical booking steps in a company driven by social media stats is foolish. But is it so much to ask for just a few weeks of wins over credible opposition before a title match is rewarded to a unit? Apparently so.

Now, this is likely a result of the tag division not exactly over-flowing with squads currently, evidenced in Sarray (yep, one-time winning streak Sarray) and Amari Miller being thrown together to be slaughtered by Indi Hartwell and Persia this week. But seemingly just deciding who a challenger will be on whim, instead of believably building them ala Bron Breakker, takes a lot of shine away from the belts up for grabs. The triple threat bash over the straps at Halloween Havoc will at least put the titles under the spotlight again, but a meaningful storyline or journey towards the gold wouldn't go amiss either.
