7 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Oct 12)
3. Chase Teaches His Students Another Lesson
It wasn't long back that when NXT regularly played host to Timothy Thatcher aggressively trying to educate a group of students on how to successfully apply certain holds and get the job done in the ring. That weekly dose of mat education didn't really connect for a variety of reasons. But for a lesson in how to get over the power-mad teacher abusing his position, all while still looking like a goof, look no further than Chase University.
It's relatively simple stuff: Andre Chase dissects a rival's in-ring mistake, this time Odyssey Jones not putting his foot in the right position to obviously break a pin, before being called out for not playing by the rules himself by a student. All hell breaks loose. But how entertaining that hell is.
On this occasion, seeing Chase unleash a string of F-bombs before ordering his now-former student to depart conjured up a conflicting feeling for your writer. You obviously want to see this douche get his comeuppance. But at the same time, is there another frequent WWE pre-tape as enjoyable as this in the current landscape? Top marks for Chase. Fingers crossed he can successfully transition this fragile character into a live arena in his match against Jones next week.
