After countless rumors and hints, Dominik Mysterio finally turned on his father at Clash at the Castle Saturday, laying out Rey Mysterio and Edge after their victory against Judgment Day.

Dom has long been viewed as the underwhelming son riding Rey’s coattails, desperately in need of getting out from his father’s shadow. For months, Judgment Day has been trying to recruit Dominik, to no avail. But when Rey chose Edge as his tag partner for the Clash tag match, you could see the younger Mysterio finally growing tired of being set aside.

During the match, Dominik bailed out his dad and Edge several times, cheating to help them win. Afterward, however, Rey and Edge celebrated together while Dom stood off to the side, his contributions ignored. Dominik finally lost it, kicking Edge low and clotheslining Rey, walking out to thundering boos.

The turn came ridiculously late and even came late in the match itself – why not just have Dominik help Judgment Day out in defeating his dad and Edge? – but it happened, and the crowd received it well, so there’s that.
