When Gunther got the call-up to SmackDown, observant fans were counting down to when he and Sheamus would mix it up.

What you couldn’t immediately predict was that Imperium would fully reunite and tangle with the Brawling Brutes in a rivalry that has torn the house down repeatedly. And Saturday was no different.

The Brutes and Imperium demolished the entire ringside area – and each other – in a Donnybrook match that exceeded everyone’s expectations. Despite being a match with barrels and shillelaghs being available, most of the brutality involved fists, feet and full body attacks between the six men. It was an all-action brawl that had fans from the opening bell.

Better yet, Sheamus got a measure of retribution by putting Gunther through a table with a Celtic Cross, and then getting the pin on Giovanni Vinci with a Brogue Kick. Great opener where no one looked bad.
