7 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE Extreme Rules 2022

3. Overbooked Crap, But Still Pretty Great

Typically, a match in which five wrestlers interfere in a match and the hijinks dominate the final five-plus minutes of the bout, it’s probably an overbooked mess.

But somehow, the end of the Finn Balor/Edge I Quit match was dramatic mayhem. Judgment Day ran down to gang up on Edge, leading to Rey Mysterio coming down to try to even the odds. But then Beth Phoenix made a surprise appearance to turn the tables, getting the handcuff keys to free Edge.

This then led to the climactic moment with Edge held by the rest of Judgment Day as Rhea Ripley threatened to blast Beth with a conchairto, prompting Edge to quit… only for Rhea to chair Phoenix anyway.

It was great drama and really sold Judgment Day as the biggest heels in the universe for doing that to Beth. But man, could we have gotten there 10-15 minutes sooner?
