7 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE Raw (13 March - Review)

2. Fresh Coat Of Paint Isn’t Enough

Austin Theory

Monday night, we got to see the WWE equivalent of Malibu Stacy with a new hat: Austin Theory had a new presentation for his ring entrance.

The United States Champion posed with a spotlight on him as the camera swooped around him, showing him with his back to the arena as the lights came up behind him and he turned to strut to the ring. It allowed Corey Graves to fawn over Theory’s physique, but that was about it.

Backstage Theory continued to peacock with his sunglasses and open shirt as he bragged he was the most important part of Raw… while his words came across as vanilla and cookie-cutter as possible.

Sorry, but his presentation Monday night and his match against Angelo Dawkins screamed midcard cannon fodder, not the future of WWE. He’d be what you call “a good hand,” not the guy to beat John Cena at WrestleMania 39.

Maybe if they had spent months building him up and developing his character, it would feel believable, but right now, it feels like he’s trying to level up after Cena cut him to shreds last week.
