7 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Dec 19)

Downs...

5. Toy Belts

On one hand, you have to acknowledge that WWE is a company trying to make money. And you can’t fault them for needing to have synergy between the television product and the toy production line.

That being said, the new Raw Tag Team Championships – which are just copies of the existing titles but with red straps instead of the old black ones or the blue ones for SmackDown’s tag titles – are lame. And fans let WWE know it by booing immediately when they were unveiled, much in the same way that fans booed mercilessly when the Universal Championship (also with a red strap) was unveiled.

Those of us who grew up with the Big Gold Belt, the winged eagle belt and the classic Intercontinental Championship belt are always going to long for those unique titles that looked like prizes, not kids toys in an adult size. And that goes for these new tag titles.
