How is it that WWE can brag about being in a sold-out arena with 13,000 fans less than a month before its biggest show of the year, and there are numerous segments where you can hear a pin drop?

Judging a wrestling program based on fan reaction is not always a fair move, but when you consistently notice a packed house that’s quieter than you would reasonably expect, that has to count for something.

Raw Monday night was another mixed bag, offering some solid stories advancing toward WrestleMania 42. At least one match was made official, while a couple of others started to take shape. Two matches that already are official received attention, with Stephanie Vaquer getting a bit of revenge on Liv Morgan, and Oba Femi turning back Brock Lesnar’s attempt to do the same.

CM Punk cut a spicy promo that leaned into his “old man” persona while firing up the crowd and (eventually) spurring Jey Uso to lose his cool. However, Roman Reigns’ contribution to this “highly personal” World Heavyweight Championship feud was kept to a few short sentences and three wrestling moves. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but the contrast was noticeable.

The Vision and Seth Rollins continue to be low points on Raw these days, and the sooner those stories are wrapped up and swept under a proverbial rug, the better.

'Mania is less than four weeks away, and it still is unclear whether it’s going to be closer to WrestleManias 39 and 40, or WrestleMania 41.
