7 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE Raw (April 27)

4. Don’t Hinder Jinder

You get the feeling WWE needs to justify giving Jinder Mahal a win in his return match Monday night, hence the reminders that he’s a former WWE Champion.

Mahal was pretty much a jobber right up until he earned a title match a couple years ago, then slid right back down the card until he got injured last year. So naturally he returned Monday night and squashed Raw’s utility player, Akira Tozawa.

So why is this a “down”? Jinder has been pushed at different levels throughout his WWE tenure, and while he’s “a good hand” to have on the roster, he’s never succeeded in the upper reaches of the card. Unless he’s recently unlocked some skills, he’s sadly a jobber to the stars.

Hyping up his return and squashing Tozawa – who really deserves better after going out week after week and being a punching bag for every opponent – when Mahal himself is more likely to be losing himself in the coming weeks is just frustrating.

But we’ll give this just a tentative down here and see where it goes.
