As much grief as this column regularly gives Roman Reigns, let’s make it clear (for the umpteenth time) that the Big Dog is still an effective, valuable member of Raw – when used properly.

The all-out brawl with Bobby Lashley, which required most of the locker room to try to separate them, was extremely well done. After weeks of exchanging insults and struggling to co-exist as tag partners, words were kept to a minimum Monday, and they got right to scrapping. GM Kurt Angle brought out troops to try to keep them apart, but Lashley kept breaking free.

Finally, Roman hit his signature no-hands dive to the floor, wiping out everyone, before the music hit. And to show how well-done things were, Reigns charged again and attacked Lashley once more while the music was playing, which might not seem like a big deal, but it broke from the usual format, which was a welcome sight.

Fans were clearly into the brawl, but bank on this: If Roman dispatches with Lashley and turns his focus on the Universal Championship once again, Monday’s goodwill from fans will disappear quickly.
