7 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Extreme Rules 2016
2. Nattie Slips On A Banana Peel
The preview column for this piece talked about WWE doing a good job rebuilding Natalya into a credible challenger, to the point where fans are sympathizing with her and would completely buy her winning the title at Extreme Rules.
Yeah, well, about that
WWE took what could have been a really good match that put Charlotte over as either a dominant or dastardly heel and instead just made Nattie look foolish. The challenger got distracted when Ric Flairs music hit, thinking he was breaking the big rule of the match and coming down to ringside, giving her the title.
Instead, it was Dana Brooke, wearing a Flair robe and wig, strutting down to the ring. That was enough to distract Natalya, who continued jawing with Dana and ultimately getting caught with a Figure 8 for the tapout loss. And thus ends Natties run as as credible challenger, falling victim to a simple distraction.
