7 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Raw (April 13)

Downs...

6. An Abrupt Ending

Shayna Baszler Sarah Logan

Shayna Baszler’s personality and style lends itself to her matches being stopped by referee’s decision, but Monday’s match was just a bit absurd.

Baszler squared off against Sarah Logan in a Money in the Bank qualifier match and landed a handful of hammerfists before stomping the elbow, which ended the match right then and there. Maybe it was because we’ve seen this done better in NXT with Dakota Kai, but this just looked somewhat lame by comparison.

We get the point: Put over Baszler as a killer who can end a match in seconds. But if you’re billing her as a cagefighter, why not have Shayna rain down hammerfists for a solid minute until the ref calls for the bell because Logan can’t defend herself? Or at least have Baszler target the elbow/arm a couple times before landing a solid stomp.

Throwing a few fists before landing a solitary stomp was just a somewhat lazy route. They could have made it look a bit more gruesome and accomplished what they wanted. It also didn’t help that they declared Logan the winner at first.
