7 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw
3. Return Of The Cruiserweights
If you watched the Cruiserweight Classic Bracketology special previewing the tournament a couple weeks ago, you got a clue that WWE was considering reviving the Cruiserweight division. Hosts Mauro Ranallo and Daniel Bryan and WWE executive Triple H all praised the work of smaller wrestlers while noting that it was far more than just high-flying action.
So after a successful launch of the CWC last week, WWE wasted no time in announcing Monday that the Cruiserweight division would relaunch as an exclusive property of Raw, which makes sense considering that Raw has an extra hour of programming to fill. This also is in line with the previous incarnation of the division, which was exclusive to Smackdown in the 2000s.
There are plenty of talented smaller wrestlers on the main roster now who could benefit from this move, such as Kalisto, Neville and Tyler Breeze, and there are several guys in NXT who could fill out the division. Throw in some of the Cruiserweight Classic competitors who could sign with WWE and you could have a very interesting, competitive division.
Let’s just hope we never have to talk about Cruiserweight Champion Hornswoggle again.
