WWE keeps trying to fill three hours with compelling television, and while they’re doing better at it than they had been earlier this spring/summer, it’s pretty clear that having a half-hour or hour less would make a difference, not just for the writers, but the fans who watch it.

But enough about that. Raw was its usual uneven self, mixing some decent-to-good matches with confusing decisions. When was doing something predictable and logical a bad thing? If the announcers tell you a wrestler is someone’s friend and then they get demolished, wouldn’t you assume that that friend would come out to save them? Being “unpredictable” and not confronting the attacker right then and there isn’t good television, it’s illogical.

We still saw one of the most dominant tag teams in Japan continuing their farce as retirement specialists. We can only be thankful that they aren’t wearing lab coats this time. We did get a title match for Clash of Champions, and the beginnings of a face turn for Seth Rollins. After the biggest, most shocking ending in decades on Raw (because the announcers told me that), do you think Triple H explained his actions last week? If you answered “no,” you get a prize.

So what delivered a superkick on the money and what got powerbombed out of existence? Let’s get to it…
