8. Not The Payday Paige Had In Mind
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gE2YdPD4V5I As far as in-show commercials go, Mondays segment with Byron Saxton and Paige shilling for Payday candy bars was not that bad. The plug was kept to the end of the bit, was short and didnt require too much vamping from either performer. Still, the segment itself was just silly. Saxton asks a handful of fans which WWE superstar is the most unconventional. A bunch obviously answer Dean Ambrose, but more say Paige, and shes bestowed the honor of being the most unconventional star thanks to a man on the street interview. As a general rule, in-show commercials should be panned. Even though this one wasnt particularly offensive, how soon until we get Damien Sandow on roller skates again advertising for Sonic? Where else on television do we see the characters doing in-show commercials for a product? Its reminiscent of the 1992 movie Waynes World, where they turned product placements into a huge sight gag. If WWE really wants to have products advertised during the show, put logos on the barricade walls like other major sports do.
