7 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 12th)

5. Touting History While Ignoring It

WWE is painting the October 25th Hell in a Cell match between Brock Lesnar and Undertaker as the final chapter in a 13-year rivalry. On paper, that sounds like a hell of a way to bill a fight. In execution, however, WWE has chosen to both condense and ignore parts of that history. The special look at Lesnar/Taker centered on the modern part of the rivalry, starting at WrestleMania XXX and Brock ending the Deadman€™s Streak, then touching on their rematch at SummerSlam. The feud apparently will end in Undertaker€™s specialty match, Hell in a Cell. There€™s just one problem: Lesnar has beaten Taker in HIAC, nearly 13 years ago to the day. Additionally, Undertaker has lost more cell matches €“ six €“ than any other wrestler (he also is tied for the most wins, also six). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEmF4Lok6u0 It still boggles the mind why WWE doesn€™t actually play up the entire history between the two, that Lesnar had never lost to Taker before he went low at SummerSlam. Why talk about how this is a match 13 years in the making, and then ignore the most compelling part?
