Just on name value alone, Kurt Angle vs. Hulk Hogan is a huge match. The Real American vs. the Olympic Gold Medalist. The hero to all fans vs. the man who’s a hero only in his fragile, ego-maniacal mind (I’ll leave it to you to decide who is who).

Unfortunately, this is Hulk Hogan in 2002, so he simply cannot do much. Kurt is forced to work at Hogan’s lackadaisical pace, and the runtime of 12 minutes gives them hardly anything to do. It’s a shame, because the ending spot where Angle seamlessly reverses the leg drop into an ankle lock shows what could happen if Hogan was more physically fit. As is, however, it’s just a reminder of how certain dream matches between generations are best left as dreams.
