For as long as anyone can remember, the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and the division’s wrestlers have been relegated to PPV kickoff shows. They never get a proper PPV match.

Until Sunday. And when they got the ball? They dropped it.

Champ Tony Nese and challenger Ariya Daivari put on a snoozer of a match that pretty much guaranteed that all future cruiserweight bouts will take place on the kickoff show. It was slow and plodding, using basic, ground-based moves, which is not what you want from your smaller wrestlers.

The match livened up at the end, but by then, it was far too late. This writer has long been a defender of the cruiserweights, but this was inexcusable. They should have taken advantage of the opportunity, and instead they tanked.
