7 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE Raw (Jan 20)

8. Was Anyone Expecting Someone Else?

After the conclusion of the Andrade/Rey Mysterio ladder match, things got a little dangerous.

Zelina Vega started pulling up the mats outside the ring, and Andrade tossed Rey to the floor. He locked in his Hammerlock DDT and prepared to drop Mysterio on his head on the concrete, when a guy wearing a Rey mask jumped out of the crowd and squared off with Andrade. Then he pulled off his mask to reveal…

Humberto Carrillo.

In case you forgot, Andrade put Carrillo on the shelf with the same move several weeks ago, so Humberto returned to save Rey from the same fate.

But the reaction from fans (and yours truly) might have been the same: Wouldn’t that have been a much better time to reveal Dominick (Mysterio’s son) as the hooded hero? Carrillo had interacted with Rey previously what, twice? It’s not like he was a longtime friend returning from injury.

The underwhelming reaction from fans couldn’t have been what WWE was hoping for. Despite making this a “down,” let’s hope that things work out and Humberto gets a better reaction next week. But we can’t give it positive marks here.
