7 Ways WWE Are Failing Their Own Cruiserweight Division

2. Those Pesky Purple Ropes

Attend any episode of Monday Night Raw featuring a Cruiserweight match in person and be prepared to sit through the 'thrilling' visual of runners and ring staff changing the ropes from red to purple. The lights are dimmed at these moments so WWE can entertain fans with various video packages and backstage promos.

The entire exercise feels like a colossal waste of time at this point. Changing the ropes and ring canvas was a novelty when the division launched on Raw, but it's now more of a hindrance than a help. Sometimes, it can take up to 10 minutes for the Cruiserweight scene to be set, and that's just too long.

It's time to ditch the purple look. By disallowing Cruiserweight stars to fly around the place and combining those restrictions with a different aesthetic that takes too long to get going, WWE are only shining a bright light on what's missing from the division. Get rid of the purple ropes and just let these guys wrestle a different style.
