This is another key to the success of Murphy so far. He lost to Roman in a rare WWE performance: taking a loss and coming out better than before. He pinned Bryan clean using his finisher, without even having to use a roll-up or hitting multiple Murphy’s Laws. Sure, he has taken some bumps along the way from Rowan and Roman but that is how you keep his enemies looking strong.

And going forward, his enemies should remain at this strength, whether it be the Roman storyline as stated before or getting him involved with other big stars. There are many different fantasy booking options here, but in terms of showcasing his talent, there are a few names that stand out.

For the simple one-off matches, Randy Orton, Cesaro, and Rey Mysterio would all work well. A short-term feud between him and Ricochet would be great as well, as long as WWE can put them both over in the process.

But perhaps the best choice would be Samoa Joe. He would be a good start after this current storyline wraps up with his involvement in it previously. And if they are committed to making him face, this is a good opportunity to do that by having him coming to Roman’s defense. Plus the way that Joe wrestles would mesh beautifully with Buddy. Think of a ceiling here reminiscent of the days of Samoa Joe and AJ Styles feuding in TNA.
