7 Women Who Left WWE Because Of Their Wrestling Partners

It isn't uncommon for two wrestlers who are placed in an onscreen relationship together to eventually become a real life couple. It happened with Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella, Charlie Haas and Jackie Gayda, and CM Punk and AJ Lee.

Punk dated his fair share of women's wrestlers during his time in WWE, but he never had an on-air love interest until he was placed in a program with AJ in the summer of 2012. AJ had an obsession with Punk, as well as with Daniel Bryan and Kane, but she was never able to win him over, even after going so far as to propose to him on an episode of Raw.

Although they didn't interact much on WWE TV beyond that one angle, they started dating behind the scenes and remained together despite Punk's abrupt departure from the company in January 2014. AJ's character wasn't buried on programing because of that, but it's safe to say it didn't make the rest of her tenure there any easier. She appeared on and off over the next year, getting married to Punk during her time off before calling it a career immediately following WrestleMania 31.

Perhaps we'll never know how much longer AJ would have been around for, let alone how much more she could have accomplished and the matches she could have had with the current crop of women, had she not left to join her husband in retirement.
