Less than six months before Daffney won the Cruiserweight Championship alongside Crowbar, female wrestling legend Madusa (Alundra Blayze in the WWF) won the prestigious championship at Starrcade 1999 by defeating Evan Karagias. The title change came about when Karagias' valet Spice 'shockingly' turned on the champ, hitting him with a low blow and allowing Madusa to win the title with a bridging German Suplex.

Unfortunately, she immediately moved into a feud with Oklahoma (Ed Ferrara offensively portraying Jim Ross). The two had a number of ridiculous contests, Madusa defeating Oklahoma in a quite frankly embarrassing Evening Gown contest in January 2000, four days before losing the championship to him at Souled Out 2000.

Madusa then moved away from active competition, focusing more on training a new generation of stars at WCW's Power Plant training facility. She resurfaced to feud with Shane Douglas and Torrie Wilson, taking one final big bump in a scaffold match before giving up the in-ring side of things altogether.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
