The tired old SmackDown vs. Raw format has been wheeled out yet again, and look, it's just in time for Survivor Series. This is the time of year when personal rivalries specific to each brand are put to the side when it suits just so WWE can pretend people on one show don't like folks who happen to work for the other. It's flawed.

Things didn't used to be this way. Survivor Series was once a platform WWE could use to further ongoing feuds, find out who had chemistry with one another in the ring and even launch new stories coming out of the show. This year, even more so than last, the pay-per-view could be renamed 'Bragging Rights' and nobody would blink.

SmackDown vs. Raw should have died when WWE didn't have a video game series called that to promote towards the end of each year. It's boring nowadays, and appears to be an excuse for the creative team to phone it in before things start getting busy during 'Mania season.
