7 Worrying Early Signs For WWE Survivor Series 2017

1. The Champion Vs. Champion Match Doesn't Top Last Year

Last year's epic Bill Goldberg comeback had an underdog quality going in that just worked, and seeing Goldberg destroy Lesnar in 90 seconds was a shock to the system that nobody could have expected. Jinder Mahal can't follow Goldberg, WWE Championship reign or not.

Mahal vs. Lesnar feels like a throwaway match more than a marquee box office smash. On paper, it's WWE Champion vs. Universal Champion, but the match isn't a balanced one. Brock is a much bigger, more credible champion than Mahal could ever hope to be in the eyes of fans, and the shock win idea wouldn't work either; it'd feel too similar to Goldberg's own victory in 2016.

There's nothing about this match that tops last year's show. Even as WWE Champ, poor Jinder Mahal must be considered Lesnar's weakest opponent on pay-per-view since since Brock returned in 2012, and that includes the limp Dean Ambrose match at WrestleMania 32.
