7 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The Week (Apr 16)
5. Mathews Vs. Borash: The End?
As a whole, Impact has been more interesting to watch in 2017 than it was in the last few months of 2016. Except for the announcing. The announce team has been complete s**t. Pope excluded. He's been okay I guess. Actually, he may be bad, but considering he doesn't spend his entire night arguing, he seems like Jesse Ventura and Bobby Heenan in their primes.
Impact has gone through the trouble of spending a lot of money to bring in the likes of Magnus, Alberto El Patron, Matt Morgan and Chris Adonis (Masters), and yet all of them took a backseat to Jeremy Borash and Josh Mathews. This week that war finally came to an end, but everything up to and through the main event was brought down by J.B. and J.M. not shutting the hell up.
Magnus, in particular, was someone the company should have been incredibly excited to promote in his return to the company. He's a young guy with a lot of experience and has a great look. And if WWE didn't have something weird against him, he'd at least be in NXT. He showed up last week as a mystery man, and in the opening of this week's show, they aired highlights of him, but then didn't bother letting him talk the rest of the night. It felt like a waste, and it got his return off to a bad start.
When Josh Mathews is being pushed more aggressively than a former Heavyweight Champion, you're booking your wrestling promotion wrong.
